What are Cannabinoids and how are they helpful?
Cannabinoids are a group of closely related compounds that act on cannabinoid receptors in the body, unique to hemp or cannabis. The body creates compounds called endocannabinoids, while hemp produces phytocannabinoids. Cannabidiol or CBD, found naturally in hemp, is legal in the United States, while CBD from marijuana is federally illegal in the US.
Cannabidiol is not yet FDA approved for any condition, but many studies have shown promising results for a variety of indications. The US Government even obtained US Patent 6630507 titled, “Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants (1).”
